TRAVEL

Over the last 40 or so years I have been fortunate enough to visit many countries around the world, either on business or vacation and have taken many photographs ranging from everyday street scenes to well known landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and the Kremlin. In some cases it has been as long as 25 years between visits which allows for some interesting comparisons. To kick this section off, the first album is comprised of some of my personal favorites - no particular theme, just pictures that give me pleasure.

My favorites

Japan vacation 2006 - "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword"

Indian vacation 2007. There are separate albums for tigers and birds from this trip. This is a collection of images that I feel illustrates the essence of the trip and the variety of subject matter.

Peruvian Vacation 2007. I took around 2000 pictures on this trip which I've distilled down to about 40 ! My first attempt at condensation resulted in a set of 300 !

BC/Alaska 2008. It's impossible to distil all the pictures taken on this trip, which included a cruise along the "inside passage" on a small cruise ship ( 120 people ) and visits to Denali National Park and Silver Salmon Creek for bear watching, down to only about 50 images. However I've made an attempt to capture the variety of scenery and wildlife that we experienced. Also, looking at the pictures brings home how it's vitually impossible to capture the vastness and grandeur of the scenery on a mere image.

Paris 2008. This my wife's first trip to one of my favorite cities - the City of Light. This collection includes typical street scenes as well as the familiar sights.

Peru 2009 and Amazon Cruise 2009. Our second visit to Peru included Tambopata, Paracas, the Ballestas Islands, Trujillo and Chiclayo before embarking on a 7 day voyage on the Amatista on the headwaters of the Amazon. The combination of wildlife and history have made Peru one of our favorite destinations - not to mention the great food and friendly people.

Costa Rica 2010. Essentially a wildlife/photographic trip in the rain forests and cloud forests of a very picturesque country. Areas visited included Corcovado, Tortuguero, Sarapiqui, Arenal, Monteverde and San Jose.
